We offer a position at the frontier of heritage digitization at the National Museum of Denmark. As frontend developer in the museum’s digital development team, you will help modernize one of Denmark's largest heritage data institutions.

The digital ambitions of the museum have been on the rise for years, and we are investing further now to be able to meet the demands both from internal projects and the world around us.

Based on more than 20 years of digital engagement and activities, we are currently renewing our entire platform underlying many core activities at the museum – from collection and knowledge management to infrastructure for pioneering 3D-initiatives and hybrid intelligence/AI-projects.

Job description

  • Join the development team of ‘URD’ – our new homegrown knowledge and collection system, that enables our colleagues to manage the vast and fantastic digital resources we hold as a museum
  • Develop and deliver core functionalities, components, and tools in our frontend platform that let product teams focus on building great experiences for our “customers”
  • Take on a key role influencing and evolving the long-term vision of our products – you’ll innovate and implement at the same time
  • Enable fast feedback loops, reliable CI infrastructure, and promote best-practices
Qualifications and Desirable skills

We expect the following from the successful candidate:

  • Solid and well documented experience with Vue.js (v3/Composition API), TypeScript, CSS/Sass and Unit/End-to-End testing
  • You hold a bachelor or higher degree in Software Engineering or in a related field
  • You care about building a platform that will be a few steps ahead of the business goals
  • You are curious and love learning new languages, frameworks, working styles etc.
  • Have experience solving complex technical challenges at scale
  • Experience with Storybook, Atomic design principals and Rollup/Webpack is a plus
  • Prior knowledge of museum’s domain or heritage data is a plus
  • Experience with agile product teams is a plus
Who we are and what we do

We are expanding our core development team, which currently consists of team lead, frontend developer/engineer, 2 x project lead/UX/UI – and are recruiting to be six. Further we have four external consultants associated (DevOps, sysadmin, architecture, backend, frontend). We are a part of the biggest museum in Denmark populated with 500+ knowledgeable and wonderful colleagues within all domains of heritage museum practice – from researchers, conservation specialist to museum hosts, frontline personnel, educators and a lot more in between. We love heritage data and are excited about the future and among public organizations we consider ourselves leaning to the more innovative and lively side of things.

Terms of employment

The working hours are 37 hours a week (including lunch). Salary, pension, and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central Organization in Denmark.

The workplace is located at the museum, Ny Vestergade 10, DK-1220 København K. Working from home a few days a week is common practice within the team.

The Museum’s working language is Danish, and new non-Danish-speaking employees will be expected to have some level of basic Danish skills now, and to acquire the necessary verbal Danish language skills within a brief period (max. 1/2-1 year).

The appointment is starting on the 1st of October 2023 or shortly thereafter.
